Hi, I'm Miki Black, your first 2010 Starlet of the Month!

A little about myself...I spent my early years in the Midwest (Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois) until my Dad was offered a job in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. My family spent the next 6 years living there and traveling the world, visiting over a dozen countries. My Dad eventually became the Superintendent of schools, so naturally, I had to fill in my role as the obnoxious Superintendent's daughter, which I did quite well, if I don't say so myself! We moved back to Illinois just in time for me to start high school and stir up some more trouble...

All the while, I had an interest in the arts...drawing since I was 5, piano at 7, and the oboe at 10. I was a real band geek, always taking private lessons and eventually working my way to the Symphonic and Jazz bands in junior high. Upon moving back to the States, my Dad got me my first electric guitar. It was love at first sight! I immersed myself into it heavily, taking lessons and practicing every chance I could. I picked up the classical guitar shortly after and dove into that just as hard. All the hours of practice and private lessons paid off when I landed a full scholarship to SMU in Dallas, Texas for Performance Guitar. I ended up changing schools and changing majors all together after receiving a partial scholarship to Millikin University, a small private liberal arts college in Decatur, Illinois, where I received my B.F.A. in Commercial Art/Computer Design.

Shortly after college, I moved to Charleston, SC for a couple years, but always had that itch to move to California so I did just that a little over 10 years ago. I felt right at home here the moment I arrived!

I've worked consistently with Trashy Lingerie, Sinful & Affliction Clothing, Benchwarmer Trading Cards, and pinup artist Dave Nestler for several years running. I've done a few campaigns, including an international Liz Claiborne fragrance campaign that placed me in mall displays and many of my fav mags like Rolling Stone, Vogue, Cosmo, Maxim, and several others. My most recent campaigns were for Mickey's Malt Liquor and Coors Fiesta. I've also been in some cool magazine features and ads over the years, as well as a bunch of calendars, posters, catalogs, and trading cards.

I've made a few TV appearances, including the E! Entertainment special, “Byte Me: 20 Hottest Women of the Web”, E!'s Daily 10, Good Day L.A., CSI New York, Access Hollywood, Entourage, The Best Damned Sports Show, and as a regular on Spike TV's Manswers. I've also done a lot of hosting work for various companies over the years.

As a musician, I was the rhythm guitarist for the rock band ANYONE from 2004-2006, prior to its split in ‘07. I'm currently working on a solo album where I sing and play the guitar and keyboards.

I have several things in store for 2010! Look for me as the live action character, Riot Shell, an online comic by Nicita Designs and comicidolonline.com that will be debuting in early '10. I will be appearing in the upcoming indie film, Places on the Run, while continuing my venture into the acting world. I'll also continue my work with foxesofla.org, the nonprofit I share with fellow model and business partner, Davida Sullivan. We will be launching our own handmade and handcrafted jewelry and accessory line, 'Mikinde' in the Spring so look out for that too!
